In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, BetterLife Physio have introduced remote telehealth services over digital or telephone platforms.

Telehealth has made the same high quality service from our experienced Physiotherapy team accessible to people from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

Is Telehealth covered by Medicare or Private Health Insurance?

Yes. Telehealth is now covered by a range of private health funds. You will need to check with your own private health fund whether you are covered for Telehealth. Medicare also covers Physiotherapy Telehealth upon a doctor’s recommendation for certain conditions, much like a CDM (Chronic Disease Management) or EPC (Enhanced Primary Care) referral.

How does it work?

Our consultations are conducted via a variety of convenient platforms.

Telehealth appointments are conducted via phone or a digital device (eg. Smartphone, tablet or computer). The session will be similar to a face-to-face home visit. The Physio will ask you a series of questions to get a good understanding of your condition. Together with you, your Physio will establish goals and a treatment plan toward reaching these goals, usually involving some form of exercise, advice and education.

You don’t need sophisticated software or anything particularly technical to use Telehealth but for those with digital access such as an smartphone, tablet or computer we have partnered with Physitrack - a premium and secure exercise streaming software program which combines interactive video consultations with real time exercise prescription. This platform allows us to tailor your program in real time, and provide feedback and exercise modifications immediately. The exercises can also be sent to you via email, mail or the app Physiapp.

You can read more information about Telehealth for Physiotherapy on the Australian Physiotherapy Association website.
